The recent investment of £7.2 million into the latest forensic equipment, teaching spaces and experienced and industry-relevant academic staff has meant students and staff now have access to brand new world-class facilities and teaching spaces that are unmatched in the UK.
Cranfield Forensic Institute (CFI) has a long history of providing the next generation of forensic experts, and alumni have gone on to work around the world for a multitude of public, private and government services. We also have invested in extensive expertise and exceptional facilities in a wide range of forensic sciences specialities. Our education and research is unsurpassed.
CFI was originally established as the home for the many forensic-related disciplines already active at Cranfield University, such as ballistics, explosives, materials science, engineering failures and digital forensics.
These were greatly enhanced by the addition of Forensic Archaeology and Anthropology, making us the only university in the world to accommodate these disciplines within a science and technology centre.

CFI has become a leading international player in the field known for the best research and postgraduate teaching and we significantly enhance the employability of students by producing postgraduates of the highest quality.
At the heart of our teaching is the Forensic Modular Master's programme, which is complemented by a suite of ancillary short courses. The programme is regarded as very high quality by the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences whom are a professional body representing forensic sciences. It is internationally recognised and has around 3,000 members in 60 countries. The majority of our MSc courses are accredited by the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences.
