Prepare yourself and your organisation for the AI work revolution

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is everywhere – literally and figuratively. Not only is it the hot topic of the moment across media stories, service delivery products and the world of work, but it’s also all around us in the tools we use on a daily basis, including satnav, voice assistants (such as Siri) and email predictive responses.

AI is manifesting into our lives at an exponential rate and infiltrating every industry and sector, with some such as healthcare already successfully utilising AI technology whilst others are only just beginning to grasp what it might mean for the future.

Join us for our AI Masterclass Series as we share Cranfield expertise, harnessing the latest research and thinking on the implications of AI across key aspects of business and industry, and the risks and opportunities it presents to leaders.

The Economic Impact of AI

28 May 2024, 12:00-13:30

Delivered by Professor Joe Nellis

The development of AI is expected to support longer term economic growth through improvements in labour productivity and efficiency. Intelligent automation is emerging with the capability to solve problems and to self-learn, driving a new generation of commercial and professional enterprise.

The pace of change brought about by AI will be rapid. Organisations that fail to embrace the opportunities are likely to fall behind, while successful businesses and institutions will exploit AI to determine their future.

This masterclass will consider some of the key issues leaders need to understand about how AI will affect economies both in the UK and around the world:

  • What are the implications of AI developments for global GDP?
  • Which countries and regions of the global economy are likely to benefit most – and who could be the biggest losers?
  • How will AI developments affect the outlook for the UK economy? Which sectors and organisations will be most affected, either positively or negatively? What are the implications for the workforce and the distribution of national income?
  • What about those countries, organisations or industries that are left behind? Will the ability (or inability) to innovate and adopt AI technology create further economic inequality around the world?
