Prepare yourself and your organisation for the AI work revolution

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is everywhere – literally and figuratively. Not only is it the hot topic of the moment across media stories, service delivery products and the world of work, but it’s also all around us in the tools we use on a daily basis, including satnav, voice assistants (such as Siri) and email predictive responses.

AI is manifesting into our lives at an exponential rate and infiltrating every industry and sector, with some such as healthcare already successfully utilising AI technology whilst others are only just beginning to grasp what it might mean for the future.

Join us for our AI Masterclass Series as we share Cranfield expertise, harnessing the latest research and thinking on the implications of AI across key aspects of business and industry, and the risks and opportunities it presents to leaders.

Supply Chain 5.0 and AI

Supply chain management involves making strategic, tactical, and operational decisions, and the co-ordination of these decisions is a perennial challenge. The advent of AI applications brings multiple opportunities for efficiencies, resilience, automation and value throughout the supply chain. But the challenges of complex local and global supply chains mean it can be difficult to grasp the wider implications of AI technology, and to know when and how to introduce or integrate new systems.

These two masterclasses explore some of the ways AI will (and already is) transforming the world’s trade, and will help leaders make informed decisions about how to utilise AI in their supply chains in the future.

AI in Supply Chain Operational Decision-Making

Delivered by Professor Emel Aktas

Operational supply chain decisions are repeated regularly, for example the daily routing of vehicles, weekly production schedules, and monthly shipment quantities from factories to distribution centres. With improvements and innovations in AI applications, these decisions can be automated to achieve higher efficiency, better accuracy, and lower costs.

During this masterclass we will focus on prescriptive analytics applications with AI for supply chain operational decision-making, and consider these key questions:

  • How can AI coordinate information flow along the supply chain?
  • What operational decisions can be automated with AI, and to what extent?
  • When is the right time to introduce AI into operational decision-making and how to start?

AI Predictive Analytics in Supply Chain Management

Delivered by Professor Ying Xie

By harnessing the power of data and AI, organisations can now anticipate and mitigate supply chain disruptions more effectively. AI-empowered predictive analysis represents a transformative leap in the way businesses optimise their operations.

Machine learning algorithms, when fed with historical and real-time data, have the capacity to forecast demand, identify potential bottlenecks, and suggest proactive interventions. This not only enhances operational efficiency but also bolsters resilience in the face of unforeseen challenges.

As AI continues to evolve, its role in supply chain predictive analysis will only become more integral, ensuring that businesses stay competitive in an ever-changing global marketplace. In this masterclass we will discuss:

  • What kinds of data hold significance in predictive analysis for supply chain management?
  • What types of valuable insights can be derived from predictive analysis?
  • How can predictive analysis be seamlessly integrated into the process of making business decisions?
