General management programme structure 

Module outlines

Module one – Introduction and coaching with Mercuri Urval (MU), online (approximately 8 hours to complete)
This module includes orientation of the programme, introductions, and content consumption.

You will undertake a personal inventory of your general management capabilities and readiness to take up a wider role with our partner Mercuri Urval, a pioneer in the predictive assessment of people.

You’ll be introduced to a range of content including strategy, operations, finance, marketing and leadership and have the opportunity to start noticing the implications of this content in your workplace on a day-to-day basis.

Module two – Mastering cross-functional business leadership, face to face (5 days residential)
In this module, you’ll gain a greater understanding of mastering cross-functional business leadership, with how different functions fit together and the impact on the overall business model; how to be more influential across your business; and how to lead and implement change across the business.

The key to general management transition is noticing and managing increased complexity in your business and with your stakeholders. Successfully navigating your transition involves shining a light on your current situation and the changes needed to make to your approach to shape sustainable results.

Core sessions from key faculty help develop a greater appreciation of the critical contribution and integration of key functions such as finance, marketing, operations and supply chain management.

Module three – Balancing the implementation of business challenges and personal leadership prowess, face to face (5 days residential)
This module focuses on the implementation of business challenges through the development of your personal leadership approach. You’ll explore building your ability to manage the broader complexities of organisation and understand its demands to manage stakeholders appropriately.

You’ll also identify a significant strategic project for your business which will form the basis of a robust business and personal action plan. Sessions throughout module two and three will provide you with the capabilities to implement this plan effectively, along with your own career goals, back at work.

Six month progress review day, face to face (one day)
3 months after you complete Module 3 we invite you back to Cranfield to review the progress you have made against your action plans, reflecting with faculty and peers on what has been learnt. You’ll be able to use the learnings as a platform to formulate ambitious development targets in light of your achievements to date.

Nine month continuing development review day, online (2/3 hours)
To support your continuing development, we invite you back to a 9 month review day, delivered virtually, to take stock of your leadership development journey; to reflect on the long-term impact of your development on you and your businesses. We’ll also support you in managing your personal development and to plan the next phase of your leadership career.

Throughout, you will benefit from coaching sessions following each module.
