Is accommodation included in the course fee?
Accommodation is included in our Open Programme course fees (unless specified otherwise). If you are attending a Customised programme, your accommodation costs would normally be paid either by you, or more commonly, directly by your business.
It is wise to reserve any additional accommodation well in advance (if required before or after your core stay), as space can be limited at certain times and bookings cannot be guaranteed if requested at the last minute.
Are meals included?
During your visit, you will be provided with a buffet lunch, along with free flowing refreshments and snacks throughout the day.
If you are resident at Cranfield Management Development Centre, you will also be provided with a three course dinner and a choice of full English or continental breakfast buffet, available in our main restaurant.
What’s included in the accommodation?
If you are attending one of our Executive Development Programmes, you will usually be accommodated at our purpose built Cranfield Management Development Centre (CMDC).
Our facilities include:
- 186 en-suite bedroom
- Complimentary barrier controlled car parking, adjacent to the CMDC (permit required)
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
- Refreshments - unlimited service of tea, coffee, fruit juices, snacks and fresh fruit served from a central refreshment counter.
- Complimentary access to our leisure facilities - exercise room, sauna and swimming pool.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Wi-Fi can be accessed using The Cloud, provided by Sky WiFi. This is a free service, which is available in multiple locations nationwide, and you only need to register once.
Alternatively, if you are attending a programme or course, each has its own unique access code and you will be provided with this upon arrival for registration, or when checking into your bedroom (if resident).
How do I get to Cranfield?
Cranfield is in the rural county of Bedfordshire, situated in the heart of the English countryside, approximately one hours’ drive from Central London and mid-way between the historic cities of Oxford and Cambridge. Cranfield is close to thriving Milton Keynes, a new town with one of the largest covered shopping centres in Europe and also Europe’s largest indoor ski slope. Cranfield is also close to the historic riverside town of Bedford.
Cranfield University Campus is located approx. 30 minutes from London Luton Airport (LTN), 1 hour from Birmingham International Airport (BHX), 1½ hours from London Heathrow (LHR) or 2 hours from London Gatwick Airport (LGW) by road. If you arrive at either Bedford or Milton Keynes mainline railway stations, taxis are readily available from the taxi rank just outside the main entrance of each station.

Does Cranfield offer bespoke programmes for organisations?
Yes. Bespoke programmes at Cranfield are offered by Cranfield School of Management and are intended to meet the specialised management education needs of select organisations. Can my organisation pay for a programme using their apprenticeship levy?
We have several programmes that can be funded through the apprenticeship levy, for further details of these programmes, visit here.
Where are the programmes held?
Please refer to the programme details to find the location for a specific programme. Programmes are usually held at Cranfield University in Bedfordshire (Cranfield Management Development Centre) unless stated.
Do I need to be proficient in English to attend open programmes?
Unless specified, all our programmes are taught in English and participants are required to be proficient in spoken and written English to attend. We do not provide translation facilities and do not allow participants to be accompanied by translators.
Are bursaries available?

What is the application process?
A completed application form must be submitted to Cranfield Executive Development’s Learning Delivery and Operations team.
The Programme Director will review all applications to ensure that each participant fulfils the requirements for the programme and that it suits their personal development needs. Careful consideration is given to each application to ensure that participants and their organisation get the maximum benefit from the course.
Once your application has been approved, your programme coordinator will then confirm your attendance with you. An invoice will follow which should be settled within 30 days, or immediately for applications made within 8 weeks of the course start date.
In the unlikely event that the Programme Director feels that your chosen programme is not right for you, we will contact you to discuss other more suitable or relevant options. Your application will be verified and processed. If additional information is required, you will be contacted by your programme coordinator. We will confirm your place on your chosen programme by email.
How long does it take to process my registration form?
Most applications are processed within 1-2 business days. If additional information is required, you’ll be contacted by your programme coordinator with 24 hours. For longer programmes, it may take up to three days to process your registration. You will receive an email confirmation once your place is confirmed.
What are your terms and conditions of booking for open programmes?

What types of payment do you take?
We accept the following methods of payment: cheque, wire transfer, credit card (Visa, American Express and Mastercard) and debit card (Maestro/Solo).
Do I have to pay VAT?
VAT is a UK government value added tax of 20% levied on services supplied in the UK. Visit the HM Revenue & Customs website to find out more.
Do I need to obtain a visa if I’m coming from overseas?
Please check directly with the relevant embassy in your home country to determine whether you need an entry visa for the country where the programme will be held.
What do I do if I need to apply for a visa?
Only on receipt of the full course fee (including VAT), will the booking be confirmed. For those who need to obtain a Visa to enter the UK, please ensure that you allow enough time after we receive payment, for your application to be processed. The UK Visa website contains information that may be of help in this process.
What happens if I need to cancel?
Cranfield School of Management cancellation policy applies to all cancellations and transfer of participation received 42 days or less prior to the programme’s start date. The following cancellation fee shall apply:
- Cancellation between 29 days to 42 day before the start date – 25% of Programme fee
- Cancellation between 15 days to 28 day before the start date – 50% of Programme fee
- Cancellation between 14 days or less before the start date – 100% of Programme fee
The following transfer fee shall apply:
- Cancellation between 29 days to 42 day before the start date – 20% of Programme fee
- Cancellation between 15 days to 28 day before the start date – 35% of Programme fee
- Cancellation between 14 days or less before the start date – 50% of Programme fee
Cancellations and transfers are subject to our standard terms and conditions.
What’s the nearest airport to fly into?
The nearest airport to Cranfield is London Luton Airport which is 30 minutes away, situated just off Junction 10 of the M1. However, London Stansted and Heathrow airports are both 90 minutes by car. From all of these you can fly to a number of European destinations.
You can also catch a train direct from Luton Airport Parkway station to Bedford and then either a bus or taxi to Cranfield. Alternatively, there are buses and coaches available.
All airports are easily accessible by train and coach. Further information on travel from these airports to Milton Keynes and Bedford is available on their website.
The Cranfield campus also has its own airport which is available for private, executive air travel.

Do you offer distance-learning programmes?
No, our programmes are residential. This provides the ideal environment for sharing experiences with fellow participants, networking and the time away from everyday life provides you with space to think.
What programme is most suitable for me?

What does the programme fee cover?
The programme fee covers tuition, course materials and full board accommodation. Lifelong access to Alumni Membership is offered as part of the programme fee but for full benefits you are required to register separately, once completing your programme.
Do I need to buy the course material?
No, this is included in the cost. Also included will be access to our Knowledge Interchange where you will find the latest business thinking and Cranfield’s leading management research.
Should I bring my laptop?
You'll only need to bring your laptop for personal use. There are areas of the school that provide wireless internet connections and there is broadband access in your bedroom.

Do you need previous qualifications to attend the programmes?
No, it is not essential to have any previous qualifications. Ideally, participants will have business experience to relate the programme back to their role and organisation. Programme Directors review all applications to ensure that each participant fulfils the requirements for the programme and might follow up to ensure they and their organisation get the maximum benefit from the course.
Do I need to attend the whole Executive Education programme?
Yes. To optimise the learning experience for you and your peers, you will be expected to attend all sessions as part of the programme, including group work and coaching sessions (where applicable). You’ll also be expected to take part in the peer-to-peer learning.
Is there any work I need to complete in preparation to starting the course?
You'll receive instructions from the programme coordinator around six weeks before starting the programme. The information we send will direct you to our online learning platform which will include the programme timetable, pre-programme reading and preparation work.
What should I wear whilst attending a programme?
The dress code whilst on the programme is smart-casual. You may be required to wear more formal attire at some evening events, but you will be informed within your programme joining instructions.
Who should I inform about special dietary requirements?
Once you are booked onto a programme you should advise the programme co-ordinator of any special dietary requirements, or any other special requirements you may have, and we will do our best to accommodate them.
Who can I expect on the programme with me?
Our programmes attract a varied and diverse range of people from all sectors and levels of management. The peers on your chosen programme will be of the same calibre as yourself, and will be facing similar business challenges - this is what makes attending an open programme so unique.
Are your programmes accredited, can I gain a qualification?
Usually, when you have completed an Open or Customised programme you will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance. These programmes do not carry any qualifications, but you should keep your certificate safe in case you need to verify your development at any stage of your future career.
Do I get alumni status after the programme?
As part of the programme, all delegates are offered a lifelong access to an Alumni membership, joining our 60,000+ network. This requires each participant to register after completing the programme. For more details, visit our alumni website.
