Why did you choose Cranfield?
James wanted to join his family’s jewellery company, Boodles, but felt he needed to learn more business skills first. A history degree had been interesting, but it hadn’t prepared him for the business world. Marketing was the main area of interest to him, with brand management of particular relevance.
The reputation of Cranfield School of Management was very important to James in deciding where to study, as was its proximity to London. In addition, it had just launched exactly the course that he was looking for, an MSc in Strategic Marketing.
What was Cranfield's impact
James's time at Cranfield provided both a springboard and a reference point for many of the things he has done in his professional life since. The work he did with students from all over the world helped expand his horizons and prepare him for international business. He learnt a lot about marketing, and also improved skills such as how to present in public. Presenting was something James had previously done his best to avoid but now actively enjoys. He also learnt how to prioritise when facing tight deadlines and manage his time more effectively.
