On 27 November 2025, we hosted another inspiring session of the Bettany Centre for Entrepreneurship Speaker Series at Cranfield University. A big thank you to our wonderful entrepreneurs: Alan Wilson from TrackZero, Professor Ana Soares from Pazul Limited, and Dr Filomeno Martina from Sadirah Industrials, for joining us and sharing their insights so openly with the audience.

As always, the evening was filled with rich discussions and valuable knowledge. Here are seven key lessons we took away from the event:

  1. The Importance of Validation: Engaging with potential customers and stakeholders early on is crucial for validating business ideas. It was emphasised that even the best ideas must meet genuine needs to be truly effective. Collecting feedback and being open to criticism are essential steps in refining concepts into something impactful.
  2. Resilience is Key: Entrepreneurship is a journey filled with challenges and setbacks. Every entrepreneur faces obstacles, and how one responds to these challenges ultimately defines their success. Embracing failure as a learning opportunity and focusing on persistence can significantly help in overcoming barriers.
  3. Sales Focus: No matter how innovative a product may be, sales should always be a top priority. Attendees learned that the notion of “building it and they will come” is a myth. Understanding customer needs and actively promoting the vision are vital for driving growth and ensuring sustainability.
  4. Surround Yourself with the Right Team: Building a strong, diverse team is fundamental to success. A great team amplifies strengths and compensates for weaknesses. Collaborating with individuals who bring different skills, perspectives, and expertise is essential for fostering innovation and overcoming challenges.
  5. Cash Flow is King: Managing cash flow effectively is crucial to sustaining and growing a business. The speakers stressed that cash isn’t just king; it’s the lifeblood of any venture. A solid understanding of financials and strategic planning for future needs can help navigate the entrepreneurial landscape more safely.
  6. Adaptability and Openness: The ability to pivot and embrace change can be a game-changer. In today’s fast-paced market, adaptability isn’t just beneficial; it's essential. Being receptive to new ideas and feedback can lead to unexpected opportunities that drive innovation and growth.
  7. Building a Strong Network: Cultivating meaningful relationships is invaluable in the entrepreneurial journey. The speakers pointed out that one’s net worth is often determined by their network. Engaging with others, sharing resources, and learning from their journeys are vital components of entrepreneurial success.

Thank you once again to our speakers for sharing your knowledge and experiences! Their insights have undoubtedly left a lasting impact on all who attended.
