Cranfield University is pleased to announce the launch of a new, full MBA scholarship sponsored by Essentra plc.

Essentra plc is a leading global provider of essential components and solutions based in Milton Keynes, whose Chief Executive, Colin Day, is himself a Cranfield alumnus (MBA 1980).  Since completing his MBA, Colin held the role of chief financial officer at a number of publicly listed companies across different sectors, prior to taking the helm at Essentra plc in 2011.

The scholarship is open to MBA applicants who ideally come from either a manufacturing, operations or a sales and marketing background and who want to pursue the full-time MBA at Cranfield School of Management. The scholarship will cover the full tuition fees for the programme.

Following successful completion of the MBA programme, there is also the opportunity of working with Essentra plc.

Dr Stephanie Hussels, Director of the full-time programme at Cranfield, said: “We are enormously grateful to Essentra for their most generous donation.  Scholarships are an important source of support and can enable students, who might not otherwise have been able, to fulfil their potential.”

Stephanie went on to say: “Our alumni play an integral part in the School’s future and by supporting future business leaders through scholarships, they help create a sustainable legacy for tomorrow’s business.”

Colin Day said: “As a Cranfield alumnus myself, I am very pleased that Essentra is supporting this new scholarship to provide another student with the valuable experience and opportunities which the MBA programme offers.”

One of Colin’s biggest interests is business performance, which has extended to taking on non-executive director roles, and he is currently on the boards of Amec Foster Wheeler and Meggitt, as well as US mutual FM Global.
