Background
Following the completion of his engineering degree in polymer engineering, Ahmad commenced his professional journey as an Assistant Technical Manager in the coating industry. Concurrently, Ahmad pursued and successfully obtained a Master of Science degree through research in polymer science and engineering at NTU. This academic achievement facilitated his appointment as a Lab Engineer at National Textile University, where Ahmad oversaw Polymer Synthesis and Unit Operation Labs.
Driven by a profound interest and passion for the domain of paints and coatings, Ahmad planned to embark on a Ph.D. journey. His doctoral research focuses on Fireside Anticorrosive Coatings for Optimizing Protective Energy Systems in Sustainable Waste-to-Energy Power Plants. This comprehensive, full-time Ph.D. (sponsored by Welding Alloys Group) program will enhance both his theoretical understanding and practical skills, laying the foundation for a successful career as an R&D engineer specializing in materials. Specific areas of expertise include Thermal Spray Coatings for fireside corrosion protection and various coating techniques such as ARC spray coating, HVOF, Plasma Spray, Cladding, etc.
Moreover, gaining insights into material engineering procedures during Ph.D. will position him to meet the advanced requirements of diverse sectors, including waste-to-energy power plants, the oil and gas industry, aviation, naval shipbuilding, and automotive industries. Drawing on Ahmad's current part-time role as a "Group Innovation Engineer" at Welding Alloy Group (WAG), He actively collaborates with R&D engineers. He finds immense value in weekly brainstorming meetings with his supervisors, where innovative ideas are generated and applied to address corrosion-related challenges worldwide. This experience reinforces his strong inclination towards projects with a robust research component, highlighting his commitment to providing solutions with integrity.
