Cranfield offers a number of excellent powertrain development facilities including:
- Multi-User Environment for Autonomous Vehicle Innovation – a fully instrumented test road running through the campus with various street scenarios, a configurable road section, and adjacent to the Digital Aerospace Research and Technology Centre
- Off-Road Environment Simulator – a 5000Nm 4WD vehicle dynamometer; capable of articulating over 1.2m; very high-speed torque control (2mS); and able to take vehicles up to approximately Range Rover size
- Battery lab
- IMEC – vehicle workshops
- Mechatronic Lab
- Transient Dyno
- Brake rigs
- Damper testing
- Four-post shaker rig
- Aerodynamics – Cranfield can provide access to their own wind tunnels or work with you on R&D via the Cranfield Applied Aerodynamics Group
AVEC is very keen to deploy these facilities for the shared benefit of Cranfield, other UK researchers, and commercial R&D projects. Please contact the AVEC staff shown in the panel here to discuss how our facilities can be leveraged into your R&D project or research activity.
