A new MSc project is being funded by the Sue White Fund. We welcome Shillah Mugadza, who will be supported locally by the University of Zimbabwe and Associated Foods Zimbabwe, in addition to her supervisors in Cranfield. Her research is entitled 'assessing the effectiveness of multiple use water service as a service delivery approach in rural water supply systems'.

Multiple use water service is an approach that seeks to plan, design and manage water systems with the aim of meeting community water needs for multiple purposes. Reductions in the time and effort involved in water collection in Sub-Saharan African countries can lead to increased efficiency in activities such as brick moulding, livestock production and vegetable growing, among other productive uses of water.

Benefits from the project will include the development of skills allied with the system design, construction, maintenance and use of improved agriculture techniques which offer increased financial independence for communities in Zimbabwe.
