Background
Wenqi completed her Master's in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Cranfield University in 2021, where she focused on building a resilient supply chain control tower.
Presently, Wenqi joined Cranfield University as a supply chain PhD student at the school of management. Her research direction is the integration of additive manufacturing in food supply chains.
Research opportunities
Wenqi's current research focuses on integrating additive manufacturing in food supply chains: from the circular economy and sustainable perspectives. Customers have had specific expectations regarding food composition, structure, and properties in recent years, which has resulted in the rising trend of customised food. However, due to a lack of economic scale, traditional manufacturing would have low efficiency and high costs for producing customised food. Thus, 3D printing can be a solution. 3D printing can simplify the supply chain and enable circular economy strategies applied in the food supply chain, further achieving sustainable goals and increasing supply chain efficiency.
