Background

Peter Kerr is a former senior executive with over 25 years of strategic planning, product management, marketing, and sales management experience across several industries. His career has spanned both high growth and declining markets, regulated and unregulated industries, product, and service-based organizations and, most notably, the B2B technology sector where he was vice-president of Marketing for Bell Canada's small and medium business division, Director of Marketing for Q9 Networks, Canada's largest data centre service provider and Director of Marketing for Dell Computer Corp's leasing division.

Peter holds a PhD from Cranfield University and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario, where he graduated as an Ivey Scholar for top academic achievement. From 2012-2018, while completing his doctoral studies, Peter was a part-time lecturer and executive workshop facilitator at Brock University's Goodman School of Business.

Current activities

Peter now lives in Sydney, Nova Scotia, on beautiful Cape Breton Island where he has been an Assistant Professor, Marketing and Strategy at the Shannon School of Business, Cape Breton University since 2019 and a member of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Peter's research focuses on the alignment of salesperson behaviour and capabilities to the firm's marketing strategy. He is currently investigating salesperson value, its conceptualization, measurement, and link to performance in the context of a changing digital sales environment.
