Contact Dr Nam Vu

Background

Nam obtained his bachelor degree in Finance from Washington State University, USA. After graduation, he spent the next 5 years working as a business analyst in one of the largest banks of Vietnam, specializing in Information technology implementation projects. Nam then obtained his Msc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management with Distinction at Heriot-Watt University.

In 2019, he came to Cranfield to pursue a PhD in Leadership and Management and was awarded a full-time studentship for his PhD. Nam's research investigates the process of implementing Blockchain technology in food supply chain businesses, and the impacts of Blockchain on the performance of food supply chain. After obtaining his PhD at Cranfield, Nam joined the Logistics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management Centre as a Research Fellow.

Research opportunities

Nam's research interest includes transformative technologies impacts on supply chain management, and various aspects of food supply chain management.

A few research directions that he is working on:

Blockchain adoption and impacts for logistics and supply chain management in specific industries.

Potentials and impacts of novel technologies for food supply chain management.

Linking food value chain management values and practice to wider issues such as food security, food system resilience, and sustainable food.

Current activities

Nam is joining the ECO-READY project, an EU-funded project, as a researcher. ECO-READY is about achieving Ecological Resilient Dynamism for the European food system through consumer-driven policies, socio-ecological challenges, biodiversity, data-driven policy, sustainable futures. ECO-READY will develop a real-time surveillance system, an Observatory offered as an e-platform and as a mobile application aiming to provide real-time assessments for the food system, and update forecasts frequently and consistently.
