Background
Dr Hendrik Reefke has held academic positions in the UK, Germany, and New Zealand. Prior to this he worked in the automotive sector with roles in Engineering and Procurement and in Project Management. Hendrik is known for his capability in Warehousing, a specialised area characterised by complexities regarding design, equipment, operations, and managerial implications.
He holds an award winning PhD from the University of Auckland as well as a MCom and BCom (Honours) in operations and supply chain management.
Research opportunities
Hendrik embraces a variety of methodological research approaches including simulation, process design, modelling, surveys, group decision techniques, case studies, and conceptual theory building. His work has been published in academic journals, books chapters, and conferences. For research supervision, he welcomes students interested in conducting empirical research in areas broadly connected to his research interests.
Current activities
Hendrik is a Senior Lecturer in Supply Chain Management and Course Director of the full-time Logistics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management MSc course at Cranfield School of Management. He is an active researcher, focusing primarily on sustainable supply chain management, service supply chains, as well as performance measurement and reporting.
He leads programmes in the areas of Humanitarian Logistics, Sustainability and Operations Management and has conducted various consulting and research projects, including Sustainable Transport in the UK, Health Supply Chain transformations in developing countries, Supply Chain Trends, and the effects of Brexit on Supply Chain Locations.
