Background

Priya received a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary (Canada), during which she completed an internship at an oil and gas production company. Here she worked under the water technology R&D platform and was involved in various projects on produced water characterization and treatment.

She holds an MSc in Environmental Engineering from the University of Calgary. For her master thesis, Priya studied the application of light emitting diodes (LED) in advanced oxidation processes (AOP) for the treatment of groundwater contaminated with solvents from oil and gas refining plants.

Prior to attending Cranfield University, Priya worked as a water/wastewater engineer in an environmental consulting firm and also has experience working for an environmental regulatory body. Her interests lie in development of sustainable technologies for water/wastewater treatment, specifically for removal of emerging contaminants and water reuse.

Current activities

Priya is currently pursuing a PhD in Water Science at the Cranfield School of Water, Energy and Environment. Her project aims at determining key variables affecting pollutant degradation in drinking water treatment using LED based AOP systems and its outcomes.
