Background
Msughter Lord Baka, a graduate of Mechanical Engineering, obtained his Master of Engineering from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi - Nigeria where he carried out an Evaluation of rice husk Ash/Recycled low-density Polyethylene for the production of Pavers block. Prior to this, he was employed by the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi, under the Department of Mechanical Engineering where he was saddled with the role of Guiding and Assisting Undergraduates during the conduct of Practical/Experiments, Assisting in the Conduct of Post Graduate Research work, Installation, Calibration, Maintenance, Servicing/Repair of Laboratory Equipment and Management of engineering workshop and Laboratory.
His research at Cranfield University focuses on understanding the role of grain morphology of crack nucleation distribution in a corrosive environment to provide a model for irreversible deformation at grain levels that lead to fatigue corrosion cracking of duplex stainless steels.
This work will simulate the individual grains (Crystal Plasticity Model) and describe the evolution of microstructural features (Grain boundaries, precipitate-phase-field method) aimed at tracking dislocation movement in duplex stainless steel materials to predict its mechanical behavior using dislocation dynamics. The model will predict maintenance, lifetime extension, and End-of-life planning.
