Background
David Fadimu is a PhD researcher at Cranfield University, specialising in advanced biosensing technologies for wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE). His research focuses on developing low-cost, rapid and field-deployable sensors for real-time public health surveillance, epidemic early warning, and wastewater analysis.
His work involves developing novel biosensors and inference systems to detect chemical and biological biomarkers in wastewater, enhancing pandemic preparedness and drug use monitoring. The project also advances sample preparation methods for complex wastewater matrices, enabling fast, on-site surveillance of infectious diseases and emerging public health threats.
David holds an MSc in Biotechnology, Bioprocessing & Business Management from the University of Warwick, where he conducted research on the cost-effectiveness of interventions against vector-borne diseases. He also earned a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science from Warwick, with a research focus on molecular diagnostics, infectious diseases, and epidemiology.
David is passionate about translating cutting-edge biosensing research into real-world healthcare solutions, ensuring early detection of public health threats through innovative sensor technology with a focus on global public health, environmental monitoring and scalable diagnostics for real-time epidemic tracking and intervention.
