Background
Ahsan Alam has completed his Master of Engineering in Energy Systems from NED University of Engineering and Technology, Pakistan. He worked for 10 years in the power generation sector of Pakistan, before starting his PhD from Cranfield University. During his tenure in the industry, he remained in touch with academia and supervised six Bachelor of Engineering students’ groups and one master of engineering student on their final year project/thesis as an industry expert.
Current activities
The current research is on the topic of the Performance of supercritical CO2 Brayton cycle equipment. This research will investigate the thermodynamic performance simulation methods for Brayton cycle equipment for power generation using supercritical CO2 (sCO2) as the working fluid. The simulation methods for the major components and the whole system of the sCO2 Brayton cycle equipment will be investigated and the corresponding computer program is being developed. The design and off-design performance of different sCO2 Brayton cycles will be simulated, compared with each other, and analysed.
