Chair (2017-19) and Vice-Chair (2016-17) of Industrial Cogeneration Committee of ASME Turbo Expo conference, Chair (2011-13), Vice Chair (2009-11), Point Contact (2007-09) and Session Organizer (since 2001) of Cycle Innovations Committee of ASME Turbo Expo conference.

Publications and Awards: Dr Li has published more than 40 journal papers and more than 70 conference papers where three of the papers received Cycle Innovations Committee’s Best Paper Awards and one of the papers received Industrial Cogeneration Committee's Best Paper Award of the ASME Turbo Expo Conference.

Current activities

Dr Yiguang Li is a Reader in gas turbine technology. His teaching duties include delivering MSc modules in "gas turbine diagnostics" and "engine systems", and supervising PhD and MSc research projects. He delivers lectures on "gas turbine diagnostics" for Thermal Power MSc programme and "gas turbine performance simulation"  and "Gas turbine condition monitoring" for CPD courses.

Dr Li is the Director of "Gas turbine group design training programmes". He is the Principle Investigation of the following research projects sponsored by gas turbine industry:

  • Gas path diagnostics of steam turbines
  • Gas Turbine diagnostics, prognostics and lifing
  • Low emissions combustor designs
  • Operation optimization of combined cycle power plant
  • Heat recovery for CCGT powerplant using heat pump
  • Gas turbine health monitoring
  • Gas turbine lifing
  • Diagnostics system development for a helicopter engine

Dr Li has research collaborations with different industrial partners such as Manx Electricity Authority (MEA), Isle of Man, UK.
