As part of the global aviation community, the staff of Cranfield’s Centre for Air Transport Management (CATM) have seen the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on alumni, friends and corporate partners in the air transport industry. The pandemic has caused many airlines, airports and other companies in the industry to adjust their staffing requirements with many individuals being affected by reduced working hours or redundancy.

Being an active member of the community, the Centre for Air Transport Management wants to support employees in the air transport industry in these difficult times, by offering two bursaries (20% of the tuition fee) to outstanding individuals wishing to study for an Executive MSc in Air Transport Management.

FAQs

  1. I don’t have an undergraduate degree can I still apply? – you may still be eligible for the course, however, to qualify for the bursary you will need to have an undergraduate degree.

Cranfield’s entry requirements for a MSc programme are a UK first- or second-class honours degree in a relevant subject area, or an equivalent international qualification. However, at the discretion of the Course Director we will consider relevant work experience in combination with a degree or professional training alongside a demonstrated ability to complete the course successfully.  We have successfully graduated students from a range of backgrounds from pilots and flight crew all at different stages of their career. You may be required to attend the first couple of modules as an associate student, where successful completion of the first assessment will allow you to complete your full enrolment.

  2. Will the course be delivered online? – The COVID pandemic has required we adjust our delivery method from traditional face-to-face teaching to live online, as government restriction are lifted we will see a return to face-to-face teaching however some course will retain elements of online delivery that have worked well for our part-time students, please discuss with Course Director the future plans for the course of interest.

  3. What is the time commitment of the course, can I still work and study and flex around my flight roster? – The majority of our modules are taught in one week blocks, this requires you to by physically or virtually present for the duration of the module depending on how that module is being delivered. Our courses are not self-study and require you to be present for the taught session and to engage with group and team assignments.

  4. If my work situation changes what commitment have I made to ongoing study – We offer some flexibility in our courses so most are offered with a Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or full MSc award. Each stage requires additional module to be completed, the MSc award will require completion of an individual thesis on top of the successful completion of the taught components. If you have to suspend you studies before reaching an award point you will retain the credits against your successfully completed modules allowing you to recommence you studies within the subsequent 3 years.
