From grinding and plasma figuring of large mirrors to single point diamond turning and micro-milling, our laboratories feature contact and optical metrology systems able to evaluate the dimensional conformity across the length scales covered by our manufacturing technologies.

μ6 Micro TURN/MILL Machine

μ6 Micro is a ultra precision six axis CNC machine tool that has an unique compact design and provides diamond turning and micro-milling capabilities.

Kern Evo

Kern Ivo is a 3-5 axis CNC micro-milling machine designed for medium and high quantities of small to medium size components.

Moore Nanotech UPL 350

UPL 350 is an ultra precision CNC 4 axis single point diamond turning (SPDT) machine used for the production of optical lenses, mirrors, mould inserts, toric, bionic and freeform surfaces.

Large diamond turning machine (LDTM)

The large diamond turning machine is capable of diamond turning work pieces up to 1.4 metres in diameter by 0.6 metres high, with high quality surface finishes. Typical components include spherical, parabolic and hyperbolic mirror substrates.

BoX® ultra precision free-form grinder (1.5 m capacity)

BoX® is a compact ultra-precision free-form grinding machine primarily designed for producing large precision optic components. BoX® machine was designed to have a very high dynamic stiffness; the machine's first resonant frequency is greater than 100Hz.

Helios 1200

Helios 1200 is an energy beam figuring system developed by Cranfield University and RAPT Industries to operate at atmospheric pressure. The machine is devised to finish rapidly large glass and ceramic mirrors with nanometre accuracy, having significant time and cost savings compared with established techniques such as ion beam figuring.

RAPT 300 plasma processing system

A prototype reactive atom plasma surface figuring machine equipped with a plasma torch. RAP is a form of plasma-enhanced chemical etching at atmospheric pressure based on inductively coupled plasma technology. The rapid figuring capability of the RAP process has already been proven on medium sized optical surfaces made of silicon-based materials.

Form Talysurf

The Form Talysurf is and profile contact stylus instrument capable to provide form and roughness measurements for small and medium size component.

Talysurf CCI

The TalySurf CCI is coherence scanning interferometer that provides areal measurements with sub-nanometre vertical resolution for surface roughness, step-heights, form, shape, angular and critical dimension results.

The ZYGO DynaFiz™ laser interferometer

The ZYGO DynaFiz™ provides reliable form metrology of optics in environments that are unstable for traditional temporal phase shifting techniques, such as air turbulence and extreme vibrations.

Leitz PMMF 30.20.10

The Leitz PMM-F is a high-accuracy (1.9um+L/400) and large volumetric capacity (3m x 2m x 1m) coordinate measuring machine. The Leitz PMM-F is equipped with an integrated
