This conference will explore the fast-developing area of sustainable hangar technology with a focus on achieving net zero 2050.

The operational performance of an airline is an often-overlooked lever for delivering on sustainability goals – net zero CO2 and zero impact on the environment (including biodiversity). Hangar (and ramp) operations can have a major impact on operational performance – for example, aircraft collision damage, energy usage, speed of turnaround, waste management, continued use of paper-based systems, no fault found. This conference will raise ambitions and share aspirations for the Sustainable Hangar of the Future in 2050, that is net zero CO2, circular economy compliant, has zero impact on the environment (including biodiversity) and zero accidents.

Discussing what is possible in the shorter term by 2030 and 2040, and what is needed to achieve the Sustainable Hangar of the Future by 2050, the conference will showcase the latest/emerging technologies and current research and discuss challenges still to be addressed (such as AI safety, becoming fully compliant with the circular economy, skills shortages).
