General enquiries

What do I do if I’ve forgotten my alumni portal User ID or password?
If you’re having difficulty logging in to your alumni portal account, please email us and we’ll be happy to help.

I’ve changed my address/email/phone/employer, how do I update my details?
Simply log in to the alumni portal and update your details by filling in the form.

Do I have to register to become a Cranfield alumnus?
No, anyone who studied at Cranfield University, Cranfield School of Management, Cranfield College of Aeronautics, The Cranfield Institute of Technology or Silsoe College are counted as alumni.

Do I have to pay to access Cranfield alumni services?
No, the Cranfield alumni service is considered to be part of your Cranfield experience so all our lifelong services are free to you. There are some services, such as career coaching, where we have arranged discounts on your behalf so there will be a charge for those services.

I’m trying to get in touch with another alumnus, can you help me?
You can make use of our fully-searchable online Alumni Directory to find classmates and fellow Cranfield alumni. You can also keep in touch by becoming a member of our alumni LinkedIn group, and joining in the conversation on our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter).

We may also be able to help you connect by contacting a classmate on your behalf – contact us to find out more.

I’m interested in further study at Cranfield, what do I do?

Access to resources

I’m having problems logging on to the portal, can you help?
If you’re having trouble logging in, or if you’re not sure of your login details please email the Alumni team and we will be happy to help you.

I’m having problems logging into Symplicity, can you help?
If you studied at Cranfield School of Management after 2014, or after 2015 for all other Cranfield University alumni, then your username for Symplicity is your Student ID number with the ‘s’ before it, and your password is the one you used for all Cranfield applications when you studied here. You can reset your password by contacting the IT Service Desk

If you studied at Cranfield prior to the dates above, you may not have a Symplicity account. Please email the Career Development Service to set up your alumni Symplicity account.

How do I access Cranfield libraries now I’ve completed my studies?
Cranfield alumni can enjoy the benefits of a free online library service, Alumni Library Online (ALO), wherever you are in the world. There are thousands of articles, reports, research papers, and publications that can help you – whether it’s finding information to prepare for an interview, staying up-to-date on the latest research, or developing your employability skills. Can you help me get a job?

Am I entitled to any discounts?

Can I still use Cranfield’s Career Development Service?
As a Cranfield alumnus, you have free life-long access to a range of career resources to help you continue your education and enhance your career. You can access career workshops and job postings through the Career Development Service, prepare for your next interview and discover the latest developments in your field using the Alumni Library Online, and stay informed on the latest thinking with Cranfield alumni webinars. You can also find articles to help your job search on the news section of your alumni portal – such as tips for job hunting in a crisis, or avoiding career derailment.

Where can I find a list of events for networking?
We have a list of events organised by Cranfield and our volunteers on our website. You can browse these to find events you want to attend.

Can I let Cranfield alumni know about my new business venture, book, etc?
Unfortunately, we are unable to promote alumni businesses, products, books, etc. However, you can promote your events, projects, business, book, etc on our social media channels: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn.

We are currently working on a project to create an alumni business directory, which would enable you to promote your venture to alumni, and for alumni to search for products and services they need from fellow alumni.

Will my degree still be recognised now the UK has left the EU?
UK degrees are recognised in many countries around the world, and there are a number of agreements between different countries that support this. Some of these are not related to the European Union which means that now the UK has left the EU, most academic qualifications are still recognised.

Transcripts and certificates

How do I get a replacement copy of my degree certificate?
Cranfield alumni can get replacement degree certificates. You can find out how to request a replacement copy of your degree certificate on our website.

How do I get a transcript?
Cranfield alumni can get transcripts of results. You can find out how to request a transcript of your results on our website.

My employer would like to verify my qualification, can you do this?
Cranfield alumni can get authentication of degree certificates and confirmation statements. You can find out how to request an authentication of degree certificate or confirmation statement on our website.

Communications

What communications are sent to alumni?
We send alumni a range of communications including a quarterly eNewsletter, monthly event bulletins, event invitations, and fundraising project updates and impacts. You can opt-out of these communications at any time by emailing the Alumni team.

Where can I find out more about how my data is processed?

How do I opt-out of marketing communications?
You can opt-out of alumni marketing communications at any time by emailing the Alumni team. If you register for an event or make a donation, we will send you communications in relation to the event and your gift.

Getting involved

Can I help Cranfield in non-financial ways?
There are many ways to support Cranfield, and anything you can do is appreciated. From helping to build your local alumni community, to attending our events, or giving your time and expertise by volunteering or mentoring. Find out more about the non-financial ways you can support Cranfield.

I’d like to make a donation to Cranfield. What projects can I support?

Is Cranfield University a charity?
Cranfield University is an Exempt Charity under the terms of the Charities Act 2011.  If you are a UK taxpayer and you make a philanthropic gift to Cranfield, we can claim back the basic rate tax that you have already paid on the money through Gift Aid. It makes a great difference to us and doesn’t cost you anything.

Do you adhere to the Fundraising Promise?
Cranfield University is registered with The Fundraising Regulator, and have committed to following the Code of Fundraising Practice and the Fundraising Promise.

Events and reunions

Where can I find a list of events?
We have a list of events organised by Cranfield and our volunteers on our website. You can browse these to find events you want to attend.

How do I register for the event?
Most of our events can be booked online via the alumni portal. Visit the events page and click on the event you are interested in attending. Here you will find further information, along with a link to online registration. If you need help registering for an event, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

I’d like to organise a class reunion, what support can you offer?
We rely on individuals to volunteer as reunion organisers, but the Alumni team can provide you with support to co-ordinate your reunion on campus – or advice if you want to hold it elsewhere. We are also happy to promote your reunion by reaching out to your class to invite them, including it in our targeted communications and hosting it on the alumni event web pages.
