We are pleased to announce that the second PhD student to be supported by the Sue White Fund for Africa has started work on her project Increase of Water Supply from Storm Water Harvesting and Artificial Recharge in Botswana.

Tshephang (Tshepi) Tumoyagae will be supervised by Prof Bruce Jefferson at Cranfield and will be supported in her work by the Botswana International University of Science and Technology. The project will be undertaken in Botswana with some collaboration in Namibia and South Africa.

The project aims to identify all available sources of water to increase water supply and to artificially recharge underground water resources. Current resources are diminishing as a result of drought and increased demand. Existing data and relevant technologies will be reviewed and investigated.

It is expected that the project findings may have direct relevance to the national water security strategy, and will assist in improving water security within Botswana.
