Why did you choose Cranfield?

I am the green and residences officer of the CSA at Cranfield University. I have been involved in so many green initiatives because of my interest in preserving the environment and the planet for children to come. I have initiated a number of things, such as: the campus light review to reduce our carbon print, having a day where we celebrate and show all the students about Cranfield University’s green activities and the community garden initiative where we encourage students to grow their own vegetables.”

The light survey project

We discovered that on campus there is a need to save energy and the best way to do this is to start looking at our lighting. I started looking at our lighting and I discovered that we are still using CFL, which is Compact Fluorescent Light and there is a need for us to convert to LED, which is Light Emitting Diodes. I presented this to the board and they accepted it. So you see an increasing replacement of CFL with LED bulbs, and that saves massive energy for the community.”

What was Cranfield's impact

There are many areas that I can work in when I graduate, such as manufacturing, renewable energy and oil servicing companies. I was a lecturer before coming here so I can also work in academic and research institutions. There are many job opportunities from the course.
