A new MBA scholarship fund to honour Professor Joe Nellis CBE, Professor of Global Economy and Deputy Dean of Cranfield School of Management, has been launched by Cranfield University.
The scholarship is a celebration of Joe’s 40 years at Cranfield, where he has made a huge contribution to the University in numerous roles including Director of the School of Management, Academic Dean and Pro-Vice-Chancellor. He has taught every MBA cohort throughout his four-decade career at Cranfield, and established the Economics Group which, in 2017, was ranked number one in the world by the Financial Times for the teaching of economics on MBA programmes. In recognition of all he has achieved, Joe was awarded a CBE in the 2024 King’s New Year Honours List for his contributions to higher education, economics, business, and charity.
Speaking about the creation of the scholarship fund, Joe said: “It is a real honour to have this Scholarship established in my name, and I am humbled by the support it has already received. Cranfield has been a huge part of my life and it has been wonderful to spend my career in an environment such as this.
“We have seen so many students from the MBA programme go on to achieve great things and it is wonderful to be able to watch their progress as they embark on their careers and not only impact the world of business but society and their communities as well.
“With the support of this Scholarship we can provide an opportunity for someone to benefit from the Cranfield MBA experience. Education is transformative, and I hope this can play a part in helping someone to achieve a Cranfield MBA no matter their background.”
