The annual Cranfield Investor Day is an opportunity for selected Entrepreneurs affiliated with Cranfield University to present their business ideas to receive feedback from a senior panel of experts, seasoned entrepreneurs and investors.

This year's Investor Day will comprise of two separate pitching sessions, one for those that are investment-ready and also the 'Cranfield Pitch Competition’.

Category 1: Pitching for Investment 

Who can participate?

Entrepreneurs affiliated with Cranfield University who have a business idea which is ready for external investment. 

How to participate?

Specific entrepreneurs will be approached by the Bettany Centre for Entrepreneurship to take part in this event.

Complete the application form by 9am, Monday 22nd June, you will need to include:

  • 2-page business plan.
  • Pitch deck.

You must include information about your team, how much money you are looking to raise and how you will use that money.

You will be assessed on the following:

  • A clear explanation of the business idea and value proposition.
  • Justification of market potential.
  • Proposition to investors.
  • Your ability to entice the audience to want to know more about the business. 

Selected businesses will be informed by Tuesday 23rd June. 

This category is limited to 5 businesses 

 

Category 2: Cranfield Pitch Competition - 90 seconds to showcase your business idea

On the day, you will present a 90-second Elevator Pitch to a panel of judges. As part of this, you are permitted to use up to 3 slides (although this is not compulsory).

Who can participate?

Entrepreneurs affiliated with Cranfield University who are looking for feedback on their business idea. There will be cash prizes available for those who deliver the best and most memorable pitches. 

How to participate?

Complete the application form by 9am, Monday 22nd June, you will need to include:

  • 2-page business plan.

You must include information about 'what is the opportunity?', your value proposition, the team behind the idea, a description of customer persona/target group/how you will engage with them, next steps, monetization/understanding of finances. 

What are the prizes?

1st place: £2,000
Runner-up: £1,000
Most memorable pitch: £500

Selected businesses will be informed by Tuesday 23rd June. 

This category is limited to 15 businesses

If you are successful in either category, you will be invited to attend the 'Pitch training day' on Friday 26th June. In addition to this, you will be offered individual mentoring sessions to help you prepare for Investor Day.
