We are developing a virtual centre of academic excellence for mycotoxin reduction, enhanced nutrition and food safety as part of the Cranfield Mycotoxin Training Hub, and strengthening the academic collaboration between the UK and China to develop a more resilient food chain in the area of mycotoxins.

The UK and China are both importers of food and other products from the European Union (EU). Regarding food safety, the principle of precaution is applied in the EU. This has led to a very comprehensive and restrictive food regulatory framework that includes mycotoxins. The aim of this project is to strengthen the academic collaboration between the UK and China to develop a more resilient food chain in the area of mycotoxins. Hence, it will be compliant with EU standards and maintain high nutritional value standards.

The project includes online workshops, bi-partite international travel, an internship of PhD students and a researcher from China to maximise knowledge transfer in both research and teaching excellence.
