SMART GROUND aims at improving the availability and accessibility of data and information on secondary raw materials (SRM) in the EU territory contained within waste landfill sites. Creating collaborations and synergies among the different stakeholders involved in the SRM value chain.
Secondary raw materials are waste materials that have been identified for their potential for recycling or reprocessing. This includes mining waste, manufacturing waste, and the contents of landfill.
The consortium will carry out activities to integrate all the data from existing sources and new information retrieved with time progress, in a single EU database.
This project aims to inform decision making at EU and national level and in industry.
It will also help to increase knowledge of EU raw materials and boost the sector by matching supply and demand from industry to accelerate the move to a circular economy.
Cranfield is responsible for implementing training and networking, characterising and modelling of potential sites, as well as the dissemination and exploitation.
