Background
Zahraddeen Musa is a PhD research student at Welding and Laser Processing Centre, part of Cranfield University. He is specialising in the repair welding of oil and gas pipelines to enhance their structural integrity and service lifespan.
He has been a lecturer at the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria since 2019. Previously, he worked as a Research Engineer at the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and as a Mechanical Engineer at the Federal Ministry of Works in Nigeria. While at NASENI, he served in many projects that were aimed at assisting Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SME's) with reverse engineered designs to manufacture machines/parts locally.
He completed his B.Eng. in Metallurgical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria in 2008 and returned in 2012 to complete his MSc in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, with interest in casting and alloying of metals. His study on the effect of section thickness and addition of copper on the mechanical properties of grey cast iron has been presented in Conferences across Nigeria.
Zahraddeen is in Cranfield University under the sponsorship of the Petroleum Development Technology Fund (PTDF), Nigeria to pursue a PhD in Welding of Oil and Gas Pipelines.
