Contact Yasmin Meeda

Background

Yasmin Meeda is a Research Assistant in Metabolic Engineering and Synthetic Biology working on the Environmental Biotechnology Innovation Centre (EBIC) project. She obtained a first-class honours from the University of Brighton in Biological Sciences in 2018 and a distinction in her Master of Research from the University of Plymouth in 2020. She then went on to the University of Exeter where she carried out her PhD research, which focused on understanding the phosphorus-calcium signalling pathway in the marine diatom, Phaeodactylum tricornutum using gene editing tools.

Current activities

Yasmin will be working on developing genetic tools for resource recovery of heavy metals and to engineer biofilms for biodegradation in wastewater and water.
