Background

Thibault achieved a B.Eng. at the Ville d'Avray Institute of Technology (FRANCE) before his M.Eng in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Technology of Compiegne (FRANCE)and his MSc in Aerospace materials at Cranfield University (UK). 

From those education diploma as well as industrial placements, he developed strong technical skills in mechanical engineering (design and manufacturing) and materials science (Composite materials). 

His Passion for Aerospace led him to work (internship and work placements) for several aerospace companies like Airbus Helicopter (composite blade designs), SAFRAN AEROSPACE (Engine MRO, VFG generator designs, Landing gear research and technologies) and gained a timescale & Results-driven culture with technical and management outputs.


Current activities

Thibault is a PhD student in Enhanced Composites & Structures Centre  on Weight and Durability Optimised Composite Strain Energy Storage Structures for Aircraft Landing Gear

The project is focused on the design, manufacturing and prototyping of extremely durable, composite carbon fibre spring components.

The project is divided in 3 different steps:

- Resins identification for high strained structures (Though thermoplastic & thermosets analytical and experimental analysis of behaviours in high strained loading cases) and their design applications to strain energy structures.

-Composite design, manufacturing and prototyping of strain energy structures or assembly with design/materials/manufacturing criteria

-Strain energy based criteria for thermoset and thermoplastic long life and reliable structures

This project is 100% founded by SAFRAN AEROSPACE (Landing Systems division) to provide:

-Designs and manufacturing methodology for strain energy storage structures for aerospace application

-Patents ideas, prototypes and feasibility studies for landing gear applications
