  • Systems Engineering

Background

Tedja is an EngD Research engineer who is currently pursuing his doctorate degree in Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing with the CDT. He is also pursuing an MSc degree in the same subject, but the latter thesis focuses on the performance evaluation of recycled carbon fiber. He has an integrated Master's degree in Electronics engineering MEng (Hons) from the University of Manchester. Prior to starting his degree, he worked in British Steel and Airbus. In British Steel, he worked in the maintenance department, where he had to manage various assets in the steelworks, such as pumps and motors. At Airbus, he worked in the Fuel Systems department where he filed a US/UK patent at the end of his year there in the health monitoring of fuel pumps.

Research opportunities

Tedja's primary focus is on condition monitoring, specifically on developing hybrid approaches to diagnose the life of an asset. His methods include system modelling approaches using MATLAB, CFD, and experimental validation.

Current activities

Tedja's EngD research topic focuses on developing a scheme for the health monitoring of airframe fuel pumps, exploring hybrid approaches to diagnose the current condition of the asset.

Tedja's MSc thesis involves characterizing the structural performance of interlayer hybridization of recycled and virgin carbon fibers.
