Background

Mr Steve Bungay holds a BSc (Hons) in Biology & Geography from Brighton Polytechnic, an MSc in Air & Water Pollution Control from the University of Westminster, and an MSc in Water & Wastewater Engineering from Cranfield University. He is a Chartered Biologist, a Chartered Water and Environmental Manager, a Member of the Royal Society of Biology, and a Fellow of CIWEM.  He has worked in the field of wastewater, sludge, and liquor treatment for 30 years.

Current activities

Mr Steve Bungay joined Cranfield University Water Science Institute as a part-time PhD Researcher in September 2019.  His research work is focused on the optimisation of the utilisation of nitrogen and phosphate produced during anaerobic digestion of sewage sludge, and draws on his extensive work experience.

 

Mr Steve Bungay is a guest lecturer at Cranfield University, and he chairs CIWEM’s Wastewater and Biosolids Technical Network. Steve sits on the Steering Committee for both the European Wastewater Management Conference and the European Biosolids and Organics Conference. He is a member of the UK Chapter of the Select Society of Sanitary Sludge Shovellers, and he works as an Expert Witness in the fields of wastewater and biosolids treatment.
