Contact Sophie Bretagne

Background

Sophie obtained an MSc in Environmental Engineering and Sciences from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland, after completing her BSc in the same school. Specializing in chemical and environmental bioengineering, the main focus of her MSc was water treatment. 

During her MSc, Sophie worked as a lab assistant on a uranium bioremediation project at the Environmental Microbiology Lab (EML). She went on to do her Master project on the arsenic contamination in the groundwater of Mekong Delta region in Vietnam with the same laboratory. Sophie has also had the opportunity to complete an internship at the World Health Organisation (WHO) working on various drinking and wastewater projects within the WASH unit. 

Current activities

Sophie started her PhD in Water Sciences in April and is working on the (bio)-removal of protozoan oocysts in drinking water using slow sand filtration
