Shaoyang Peng

Background

Shaoyang earned his Bachelors Degree in Aerospace Engineering from University of Nottingham, ningbo China in the year 2021. He then went on to earn his MSc in Aerospace manufacture from the Cranfield University during the year 2021-2022.

Current activities

Shaoyang is currently pursuing a PhD in Manufacturing focusing ondeveloping a machine learning method for processing thermal imaging data for defect characterisation.

This proposed aims to develop a machine learning method for processing thermography data for defect characterization of CFRP (Carbon-fiber-reinforced polymers).It can be established by setting the database of thermal response time and thermal diffusivity for material under the external energy pulse during thermographic inspection. In the longterm vision, such technology will help Engineers quickly perform non-destructive testing on CFRP based structures.

At Cranfield, Shaoyang will be based at the Centre for Digital Engineering and Manufacturing (CDEM)
