Background
Energy Systems Researcher - Hydrogen & PV Integration and Techno Economic Modelling at Cranfield University
I am an energy systems researcher specialising in techno‑economic modelling of green hydrogen integration for solar PV curtailment mitigation, with a focus on UK‑specific decarbonisation challenges. My work combines 35+ years of global power generation experience with advanced modelling, simulation, and optimisation techniques developed during my MSc by Research at Cranfield University.
My research investigates how electrolyser‑storage systems can enhance the utilisation of solar PV assets, mitigate curtailment, and improve economic viability under UK conditions. I develop integrated modelling frameworks that simulate curtailment scenarios, electrolyser attributes (e.g. efficiency), hydrogen storage dynamics, dispatch strategies, and multi‑scenario techno‑economic outcomes. This work directly supports the UK’s hydrogen strategy, solar expansion plans, and grid flexibility requirements.
Before transitioning into research, I led technical due diligence, lifecycle performance optimisation, and asset management across 20,000+ MW of renewable and conventional power assets in Asia‑Pacific. I have delivered modelling‑driven insights for M&A, operational readiness, and performance benchmarking across solar, wind, gas, and thermal fleets.
