Contact Salvador Castillo Girones
Background
Salvador Castillo is an agricultural engineer specializing in food industry design and engineering, with a PhD in non-destructive technologies for fruit quality assessment at the Valencian Institute of Agricultural Reaearch and the polytechnic University of Valencia in Valencia, Spain. He used advanced tools like near-infrared spectroscopy, hyperspectral imaging, and CT scans to evaluate produce internally without damaging it.
His career includes international research experience at Wageningen University, KU Leuven, Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences, and the Walloon Agricultural Research Centre. Currently, Salvador is a Research Fellow at Cranfield University in the UK. There, he works on AI phenotyping for potatoes, applying artificial intelligence to solve practical challenges.
