Contact Rakhee Ramachandran
Areas of expertise
- Applied Informatics
- Water Science and Engineering
Background
Rakhee completed her bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Kerala in India and a master's degree in Environmental Water Engineering from Cardiff University.
Further to her studies, she had been working in the water industry for over 11 years. She has worked on a variety of water and wastewater projects for clients such as Scottish Water, United Utilities, Severn Trent Water and Environment Agency. She has also worked on infrastructure projects carrying out drainage design, flood risk assessment and development of drainage strategy involving sustainable urban drainage system (SUDS).
She has also worked as software engineer from 2006-2007. She aspires to combine her software engineering experience with water engineering to carry out research, solving complex environmental and water problems in our ever-changing environment. She is currently pursuing her PhD research at Cranfield University under the supervision of Dr. Monica Rivas Casado and Dr. Yadira Bajon Fernandez.
Current activities
Rakhee is currently working on PhD research on the topic "Intelligent Dynamic Flood Response and Recovery Strategy".
The aim of the project is to develop a UAV-AI based framework to assess the impact of flooding on people and critical infrastructure assets.
Clients
Her PhD is sponsored by EPSRC, Atkins and Cranfield University
