Background

Prior to joining Cranfield, Mark spent 5 years with GEC-Marconi as professional engineer, senior engineer and section leader.

Mark has a first class BSc, an MSc with distinction and PhD. He is an Associate of the Royal College of Science and has a Diploma of Imperial College.

Current activities

Mark has a number of senior roles at Cranfield University:

  • Professor of Electronic Warfare
  • Director of Defence and Security Technology
  • Director of Research for Cranfield Defence and Security
  • Head of the Centre for Electronic Warfare, Information & Cyber.

Mark's research interests lie in:

  • electro-optics and infrared (EOIR) for electronic warfare
  • countermeasures, seekers, surveillance and target acquisition
  • man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADs)
  • laser systems
  • digital image processing
  • electro-optical protective measures (EOPM)
  • electro-optical countermeasures (EOCM).
