Contact Professor Hoi Yeung

Background

Hoi graduated from the University of Hong Kong with first class honours in Mechanical Engineering and completed a PhD in turbomachinery from the University of Newcastle (UK).

After a period in GEC Gas Turbines, he worked at the British Hydrodynamics Research Association as a research and then a senior engineer. Hoi lectured in Hong Kong Polytechnic University for a couple of years before returning to the UK as principal engineer with a water industry consultant. He joined Cranfield in the 90s as a Senior Lecturer.

Hoi has over 100 publications, sits on research council review panels and acts as a referee for technical journals. He has won the EEEGr Innovation Award and the IMechE Ludwig Mond Prize.

Current activities

Current research includes oil and gas production technology and process intensification methods for carbon capture.

Hoi has worked with a range of organisations from:

  • Large global companies (e.g. BP, Chevron, Shell, EADS)
  • Small technology companies (DeFlows, Caltec).
Projects range from blue sky research, technology transfer to consultancy.
