Background
Nii Okyne Adjei graduated in 2001 with a BSc in Electrical/Electronic Enginering from the University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. Nii worked in Conventional Power Generation using Fossil Fuels (Crude Oil, Diesel and Natural Gas) in Ghana for 10 years; both in Operations and Maintenance as well as on EPC Projects. Nii then pursued a Masters in Engineering Management at Brunel University in 2011. His dissertation centred around Power Generation Project Management in Ghana; inspired by his experiences on Power Generation Projects in Ghana. Nii then joined an IPP whose model centred around innovative fuel use for distributed generation power plants for industry, mainly running on Propane, Butane, Natural Gas, Isopentane, PRB Coal and Biomass . Working as a Power Generation Projects Manager piqued his interest in innovative fuel technologies as well as renewable power generation. Nii also has worked in Renewable Power Project Development and Deployment in Ghana, with what are currently the two largest Utility Scale Solar PV Power Plants in Ghana ( 20MW each). Nii also has some field experience managing the first Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle Power Plant Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as some biomass Power Plants. Nii currently runs his own firm,Thermenergy Services Limited which specialises in Renewable Power Project Development, Engineering Advisory Services as well as Power Generation Services.
Current activities
Nii Okyne is currently a PhD Researcher in the Energy and Power Department at Cranfield University. His work centres around Power Generation for Rural Communities.
