Contact Mandy Potter

Background

Mandy has worked for Cranfield University Library Services since 2004 and is a Scholarly Communications Librarian - Open Data specialising in research data management, institutional repositories, open access, and scholarly publishing. She supports researchers and research students, develops repository services, and promotes best practice in open research, abiding by the FAIR principles. She is committed to enhancing the discoverability, preservation, and long-term impact of research outputs.

Mandy teaches on the Doctoral Researchers Core Development Programme, covering topics such as research data management, writing effective data management plans, open access publishing, and identifying and avoiding predatory publishers. She is passionate about supporting research students to ensure they have the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the ever-changing scholarly communications landscape and to adopt responsible, open research practices.

Current activities

Mandy co-organises events such as the Defence and Security Doctoral Symposium (DSDS), the Research Support Networking Event and provides additional sessions through the CDS Doctoral Community.

Mandy sits on various project groups that develop research support and study skills, including LITR (Library, IT and the Research and Innovation Office), Lunch and Learn Working Group, the Systematic Literature Review Working Group, the EDIA Working Group, and the AI Lunch and Learn Working Group.

Mandy is a member of CILIP, the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, and Chair of the DARTS (Discovering Academic Research Training and Support) committee.
