Background

Lei earned MSc in Computational Fluid Dynamics from Cranfield University in 2024, where Lei researched on real gas effects for ultrasonic flow with UCNS3D and CFD for sloshing phenomena in hydrogen tanks. Lei also holds an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bristol, where Lei developed interest in CFD through projects such as simulating fluid flow in the human glomerulus and designing a soft starfish robot with an integrated flow battery. Lei’s research experience spans a variety of complex systems, including multiphase modelling for nuclear power plants and volcanic pyroclastic flows.

Current activities

Lei has joined the Low Emissions Technologies and Combustion Group (LETC) as a Research Assistant in Cryogenic Systems, specializing in advanced CFD simulations for liquid hydrogen storage and transportation as part of the TARGETH2 project.
