Background

The Authors Background is in fabrication and Welding where he started as an apprentice sheet metal worker. He progressed both practically and theoretically by attending Middlesbrough College for his City & Guilds craft studies, then moved on to further education at Hartlepool college of further education to undertake his ONC & HNC. Lee was then promoted to Welding Engineer at his first employer and since then he has worked at home and abroad in multiple high level welding related positions. Lee has a BEng Hons from Leeds Met in Metallurgy & Materials and an MSc at Cranfield in Welding Engineering, he is a Certified international and European welding Engineer, a chartered Engineer and is currently employed as a Welding Technical Manager for Paralloy Ltd.

Research opportunities

Currently looking at the WAAM of components which is used in the process sector to replace the manual welding of Weldolet (sockets) onto nickel base tube.
