Contact Kieran Holling
Background
Kieran Holling came to academia as a second career, having spent 36 years in the defence sector. Much of that time was spent in defence acquisition, especially of land-based systems. He has a wide experience of Integrated Logistic Support, Requirements Management, Integration, Verification and Validation (IV&V), Safety and suitability for Service testing and approval, and P3M. He lectures on Capability Integration, Enterprise Systems Engineering, and Systems Design and Realisation. He is particularly interested in the selection of 'Capabilities' to meet the strategic goals of Enterprises and in how these Capabilities are realised through the coordination of a set of immutable elements. Those elements are recognised in Systems Engineering as the Components of Capability, but in defence circles are known by other names and mnemonics (DLODs (UK), DOTMLPF (US), and the FICs (AUS), to name the key Western ones). He is currently the Deputy Course Director of the Systems Engineering MSc.
