Background
After my integral thesis experience at ArcelorMittal in the materials engineering field in R&D, I
obtained a double engineering degree in materials engineering at EEGM (European School of Engineers
in Materials Engineering) – the school that I joined after my selection for the Eiffel Excellence
scholarship – and in renewable energies at UIR (the International University of Rabat, Engineering
School of energies).
Eager to develop my career at Welding Alloys Group (WAG), pursuing a
MSc by research in the welding engineering domain will help me be placed at the forefront innovation by participating in high-tech research projects in the welding industry. The wide range of modules proposed coincides
with my academic studies at EEIGM, with my work placement at ArcelorMittal and with my
professional aspirations at WAG. This course will help me deepen my theoretical and practical
knowledge required to become a successful R&D engineer at WAG and also to become a welding and
materials engineer specialist in different fields such as welding techniques, welding processes,
metallurgy etc. Furthermore, learning how to engineer welding procedures will allow me meet the
advanced requirements for the majority of relevant sectors such as oil and gas, naval ship building,
automotive etc. Also, during my end-of-study internship at ArcelorMittal and according to my current
position at WAG, I collaborated closely with R&D engineers and technicians and I particularly
appreciated the weekly brainstorming meetings and the ideas we developed. This confirms my strong
interest in projects with strong research component.
