Background
Jiaxing Sun is a Research Fellow in sensing wastewater for real-time public health at Cranfield University. He earned his PhD in Physics from Nottingham Trent University, where his research focused on developing advanced nanomaterial-integrated fibre-optic and optoelectronic biosensors for biomedical and environmental applications. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering from Bangor University, UK.
Research opportunities
His research interests lie in nano-photonic sensing, microfluidic technologies, nanotechnologies, nanomaterials,and lab-on-chip systems for environmental and biomedical diagnostics. At Cranfield, his work focuses on developing advanced materials-integrated sensing platforms for wastewater monitoring, enabling rapid and sensitive detection of biological and chemical biomarkers relevant to population health and environmental surveillance.
Current activities
Jiaxing is currently developing new approaches for wastewater sensing, focusing on the design of nano-photonic sensors and their integration with functional nanomaterials to enhance detection sensitivity and selectivity.
