Background

Mr Cho Yin (James) Yiu is currently a Visiting Ph.D. Research Student in the Safety and Accident Investigation Centre, School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing, Cranfield University and a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering (AAE), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He received his BEng (Hons) in Aviation Engineering (First Class Honours) from AAE, PolyU and Minor in Applied Psychology from the Department of Applied Social Sciences, PolyU, in 2022.

Research opportunities

His research interests include Human Factors and Neuroergonomics; Safety in Advanced/Urban Air Mobility; Automation and Human out-of-the-loop; Human-centred Intelligent Systems Design; and advanced accident analysis via artificial intelligence. He has (co-)authored research articles in leading journals in the field, such as IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, Advanced Engineering Informatics, Reliability Engineering & System Safety, Transport Policy, Knowledge-Based Systems, and Chinese Journal of Aeronautics, etc.

Current activities

He has reviewed for many prestigious journals, including but not limited to Safety Science, International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction, Sustainable Energy Technologies and Assessments, Scientific Reports, Chinese Journal of Aeronautics, Cognition, Technology & Work, and Behaviour & Information Technology. He also served in various reputed international conferences as Event Organiser in the Air Transport Research Society World Conference, Session Chair in the International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction, and Reviewer in the AIAA Aviation Forum and ASCEND.
